Studies show that 80% of the sales production in the real estate industry is transacted by 20% of the agents. Using those statistics, of the 55,000 real estate agents in the Chicago metropolitan area, only 11,000 are actually productive with thriving businesses. How can you move from the 80% to that elite 20%? Here are five success strategies that, implemented in your business today, can put you on the road to being part of the 20%.
Did you buy office supplies? Postage? Business cards? What about advertising costs, web hosting fees, professional fees, software, education expenses (if directly related to your business)? These are some examples of expenses that you can include in your home business deductions. See IRS Pub 535 for additional information.
“Friend” people carefully. The biggest downfall I have found in these sites is that there are quite a few people on there who are there to just mess with other people and waste everyone’s time. Don’t fall into the trap of accepting friends with just anyone. What can happen is that these people that “attach” themselves to you could be “spammers” and they would use your connections to bother them as well. If you become a nuisance on these sites, your “friends” suddenly are not as fond of you and any headway you were making goes out the door.
You can do your tax returns on your own or hire a Torrance Tax Preparer. Those with larger businesses or complicated deductions should hire a tax specialist to file their taxes.
The guideline questions for clean sweeping your dirty room are; when did I last use this? When did I last wear this? When did I last play with this toy? What condition is the item in question found? The general answers to these questions are, if item is in bad condition throw it out. If you used the item the last time more then 18 months ago, donate it to charity or your garage sale. Toys can be tricky, are they memorable because they have meaning or are you a packrat?
Build your brand. Remember that you are self-employed and not an employee of the agency that holds your license. Make sure all correspondence includes your logo and your business name. This includes email, direct mail campaigns, advertising, thank-you cards, etc.
What planet are we on? We made it through another tax season. April 15th was unbelievable and I found myself standing in line at the post office on April 14th – no fun. On April 16th, I sleep most of the day. And on April 17th, most of us tax professionals woke up and started all over again. Depending on how many clients we put on extensions determines the urgency of our day. An Extension, Form 4868 – Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, gives a taxpayer an extension to October 15, to file a return. This does not give a taxpayer more time to pay. Payment should be included with the Form 4868.
